Tucked just inside the classy entrance to the home at the very front of the house is a cozy family room with lots of light and upside-down privacy shades. The back hall serves both utilitarian purposes and guest services. Now one doesn't usually talk about attics except when discussing the crazy uncle in the attic but this one deserves mention. This rare stand-up attic runs almost the whole length of the home and has a floor. The owners went to the expense of installing Icynene spray foam insulation in the roof rafters instead of traditional fiberglass insulation in the attic floor. This approach makes the attic much more usable and comfortable with a hand thermometer reading 80 degrees in the attic instead of a typical attic's 140 degrees in summer. And oh by the way, this also keeps utility bills much lower.
